Dare to Dream

Dreams are important. They provide us a vision for our furture and help us make decisions about how we want to live our lives. They give us hope and inspire us.

My Dreams...

In the next five years, I hope to become a more daring person, in both aspects of design and my life. To dare to be different and to think beyond the box while respecting the conservative interests of our Asian roots is my first step in the endeavor to develop this streak of bold design.

At the same time, I wish to further expand my skills and knowledge of design and its applications by reading widely and interacting with fellow teachers within the arts field. Also, I believe that observing the dynamic needs of people will allow me to inject fresh ideas which can meet their requirements, while retaining creativity and innovation. Throughout my life, I wish to be able to contribute to the society to the best of my capability while being able to advance towards success as an art teacher.

I hope that, being equipped with the newly acquired skills and knowledge of art education, and coupled with a renewed sense of the visual arts from my training, I am able to stimulate creativity and innovation in the local school, especially since the issue of lack of “creativity” is so often lamented in Singapore. Interaction and a purposeful sense of direction breeds creativity and I believe that “mentoring” is the way to spark off the littlest flint of creativity.

I deeply yearn to play up my fullest potential in “breeding” creativity amongst the future generations of Singapore, as I felt that creativity will awaken the entire nation, especially the youths. Creativity overcomes the fear to think out of the box and thus the individuals will be courageous when faced with any challenges in their lives, not merely for those in visual arts alone. As such, the nation will grow in all aspects when its people are filled with creativity.
